For 2016,  we swam in Division 17 of the Northern Virginia Swim League.  Detailed event and scheduling information for the 2017 season of the Springfield Tigersharks Swim Team will be provided after NVSL meetings and schedules.  Practices are daily (M-F).  A team meets are Saturday mornings, and B team meets are Monday evenings.   As a small team, swimmers have the opportunity to learn AND compete in all 4 strokes (free, back, breast, fly) between A and B team meets.  Team fees are minimal, and this is a great way for children to learn to swim.  If not ready to compete, other group or individual lessons are available for an additional fee.

Our Tigersharks swim team was greatly saddened with the early passing of our Head Coach Jeff Firman in 2014.   Jeff was not only our SSRC swim team coach, but a lifelong member of our Springfield community.  He attended elementary school at Lynbrook ES, and learned to swim as a child at SSRC.  As both an elementary math teacher and coach he brought a desire to help children succeed.  That spirit continues within our SSRC small but determined family.

SSRC continues in 2017 with an enthusiastic but small dive team.  We continue diving in Division 8.  Under our Coach Cindy Hataaja and Team Representative Denise Steene our Tigersharks continued to grow.  This is an entry level dive team with no experience required to join, but experienced divers welcome!  Practices are daily, and dive meets are generally Tuesday evenings.   Team membership fees for 2016 were minimal ($35).

Our pool was honored to host the Crackerjack invitational the last few years where more than 400 divers competed.  In addition, we had 2 divers last year make it to NVSL Dive All Stars competition.
